“Alright, Mr. Great Poker player, what’s my tell then?”
He shook his head, making like he was just keeping his secret. To tell the truth, he hadn't picked out one true tell from her--just little actions that added up to more.
“You seem to be a watching me a great deal Mr. Clyde. What’s a lady to think about that?” She asked. For a moment a bit of mirth entered those green hues, as the small smirk flickered across her face. “You were watching me with the children longer than you led me to believe weren’t you?”
Clyde nodded, knowing that denying it would be pointless--she'd take it as confirmation anyway. He liked seeing that laughter in her eyes, though--it confirmed his suspicions that she was enjoying herself as much as he was.
"What, would you rather I had interrupted your outing? Something tells me your little friends wouldn't have appreciated my company the way you do." He raised an eyebrow at her. That was making bold assumptions, to be sure, but she could easily have tried to get rid of him before now. Most of the people here were afraid of him, but she'd made it clear that she wasn't most people. He fully believed she'd have tried something if she truly wanted him gone. She was curious, at the very least.
"But yes, I spotted you sooner than that." He glanced over at her. "I won't apologize--I got the opportunity to see just who I'd given a second chance to, and I took it. What's it the Russians say? Trust, but verify?"
He flicked what little remained of his cigarette into the gutter where it sizzled out and drew a silver case from his pocket to take out another. He put one in his mouth, then offered the open case to her. He knew she smoked, from before, but was interested to see if she'd do it in public, or if only her male persona smoked.
