Countess of Bath, is hosting a Masquerade occurring on the 24th of April. The ball is to celebrate the start of the London season and is the first major event this spring. Colors are purple (amethyst), silver, white, and blue. Please wear a mask that covers at least half your face. Costumes and themes are encouraged but not required. Light refreshments will be served beginning at 8 pm. Dancing begins at 8:15. For the best experience, do not reveal your identity to the other guests.
The lights will be normal--plain candelabras and lanterns, until 8:15. At that point, all the white candles and lanterns will be extinguished and replaced with a multitude of purple hanging lanterns. There are also lanterns on the refreshment tables. At this point, the musicians will begin to play dance music. Both lined/group dances and waltzes will be played, interspersed with one another. Guests may stay past midnight, although the older crowd (and the more polite crowd) will likely leave around then.

Amethyst stood on the raised dais near the musicians, looking over her guests. Early arrivals had been mingling here and there, picking at the lovely deserts (all of which fit the theme of the evening with at least one touch of purple) and drinking champagne from lavender-glass flutes. At 8:15, she raised her eyebrow at the fire witch who had crafted the main event. With a simple gesture of her hand, the witch put out every light in the room, little by little, until the last one was the candelabra next to Amethyst. The crowd fell silent.
"May you all have the best season of your lives this year. May those of you who lack love find it, and those of you who have love keep it. May each and every one of you find joy. Let the party...begin."
With a flourish, a new set of lanterns lit all across the room, shining gentle purple light over the crowd and creating a dimmer, more intimate environment. The musicians began to play, and the dancing began.
Amethyst watched for a few moments with pride in her eyes before stepping down from the dais, and looking for the one man she actually wanted to see.
